Unaccepted Items: Tires, yard waste, hazardous materials, chemicals or paint, and refrigerators or freezers
Accepted Items: The Village is a license electronic collector accepting appliances such as washers and dryers and other electronics such as microwaves and computers, TV’s and computer monitors for a fee.  (TV’s are $25.00 and computer CRT monitors are $10.00 but no Dumpster card needed).

A dump card is required and can be obtained at Village Hall, or at the dumpster site on that Saturday.  Annual card fee is $40.00, or a one-time dump fee is $10.00.  A one-time dump fee is limited to a single dump of 1 yard of debris (Loader bucket).  A photo ID must be provided to use the dumpster.  The Village reserves the right to refuse any debris which is not suitable for the dumpster.

Brush PickupBrush

The Village has a brush pick up twice a year, the third week of April (4/15 through 4/19 of 2024) and the third week of October (10/14 through 10/18 of 2024).  Please leave your brush neatly stacked parallel with the roadway (but not in the roadway). The Village does not accept yard waste at this time. We are encouraging backyard composting.

Snow Plowing
The immediate objective of snow and ice control operations is to maintain reasonably safe driving conditions during and following storm events. This does not, however, mean that bare pavement should be expected by motorists, nor does this mean that all streets will be free of snow and ice. Motorists and pedestrians are expected to take necessary precautions and to observe safe winter driving habits. Keep in mind that our snow and ice operations focus first on the heavily-traveled roadways in Big Bend. The Village Board has adopted Policy No. 18 for the purpose of establishing guidelines for dealing with damaged mailboxes as a result of winter road plowing.

Street Light Out?
If you notice a street light not functioning, let us know. Generally, the turn-around time to repair a street light is very short (1-2 Days). Just contact the Public Works Superintendent, Eric Pedersen at 262.662.4903.
