Cardboard and Paper Collection
The Big Bend Department of Public Works is a collection point for recyclables-specifically cardboard. The “DPW” Department has a cardboard recycling dumpster on-site 365 days per year which will accept as much cardboard and paper as you can supply. Please call DPW Superintendent Eric Pedersen for more information at 262.662.4903.
There is a dumpster available for village residents to use at the municipal garage, available every third Saturday from 7 a.m. to Noon except November, December, January, and February. The dumpster will not accept tires, yard waste, hazardous materials, chemicals, paint, brush or electronics. At the present time we don’t take refrigerators. A dump card is required, which can be obtained at Village Hall. A photo ID must also be provided to use the dumpster.
The Village has a brush pick up twice a year, the third week of April and the third week of October. If you have brush in between these dates, the chipper will be available on the same day as dumpster. The same rules apply. The Village does not accept yard waste at this time. We are encouraging backyard composting.
