Planning and Zoning

The planner performs a variety of roles for the Village including reviewing land use requests, reviewing new construction/additions for setback compliance, presenting materials to the Plan Commission, Village Board (if necessary), and the Board of Appeals.  Generally, the first contact where there are questions about changing land usage on a property or new construction in the Village.  Finally, if there are general complaints about land use conditions, such as nuisance concerns from adjoining properties, the planner may be contacted.

 Office Hours
The Village contracts with a third party for its planning and zoning services. The Village Planner is Ben Kohout from Foth Infrastructure & Environment The Village Planner generally holds office hours at the Village Hall on select Tuesdays 12:30pm – 1:30pm and holds appointments on a first come first serve basis.

NOTE: The Village Planner is contracted and looks to correspond to email and phone calls as soon as possible but correspondence is usually reserved for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Application Submittal Deadlines for Plan Commission/Board

Depending on the change in land use or new building request, if Plan Commission review is required, there is a deadline for applications made to the Village for consideration.

Please note that the Village may charge-back landowners for the cost of professional services related to their application or permit (Village Ordinance)
