Tree Programs
The Arbor Day Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit conservation and education organization founded in Nebraska in 1972 by John Rosenow. It is the largest membership organization dedicated to tree planting. The Foundation’s stated corporate mission is “to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.” The Foundation programs are supported by members, donors, and corporate sponsors that share the same vision of a healthier and greener world.
Becoming a member of this organisation has its perks. At this time, with either a 6 month or 1 year membership ($10 and $15 respectively) the Arbor Day Foundation will ship you 10 free trees of your choosing to plant on your property. This is truly a great opportunity to receive trees for your property at very little cost.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is very involved in the expansion of tree planting programs throughout Wisconsin.
