Poll workers are always needed. If you are a resident of the Village and 18 years old, you qualify. Just call the Clerk's office at 262-662-2747.
POLLING PLACES AND TIMES
The Village of Big Bend has only one polling place. It is located in the Village Hall, W230 S9185 Nevins St. Polling hours are 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. The polling place is handicap accessible. If you are not sure that you live in the Village or the Town of Vernon, there is a web site you can go to at http://gab.wi.gov that will help you determine where to vote. Remember, just because your address says Big Bend that does not necessarily mean you live in the Village.
To register to vote, you must provide a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with your current address. If you are not issued a Wisconsin Driver's License, a Wisconsin ID Card will be acceptable. You can register to vote three ways: in the Clerk's Office, by mail, or at the polling place on the day of election. If you wish to register by mail, you can call the Clerk's office to have a Voter Registration Application mailed to you. Please note, if you register by mail, you MUST include a copy of your Driver's License. If you do not, your application will not be processed and you will not be able to vote until you show ID, either at the polls or in the Clerk's office. If you register at the polling place on the day of election, you will need to bring your ID and copy of something with your current address. If you have questions, please feel free to call the Clerk's office at 262-662-2747. Click here
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
If you are indefinitely confined because of age, illness, infirmity or disability, you may request a Permanent Absentee Ballot be sent to you for every subsequent election until you are no longer confined or fail to return a ballot for an election. Again, to have an Absentee Ballot sent to you, you must be a registered voter in the Village of Big Bend. If you are not sure if you are registered, please call the Clerk's office at 262-662-2747. Click here for an application for absentee ballot.
To receive a Permanent Absentee Ballot, you must request, fill out, and return an Application for Absentee Ballot. Please indicate that you wish to be on the permanent list by filling in the 2nd circle on section 5 of the application and write "PERMANENT VOTER" on the top of the form. You can call the Clerk's office for the form or download it.
If you wish to receive absentee ballots for an entire calendar year, you may request and fill out a "Request for Absentee Ballot". Fill out your name, address, date of birth, address of where ballot is to be sent (if different from residence address) and fill in number 5 with the dates of the elections you are applying for. Once your application has been verified, you will be sent an Absentee Ballot for all elections in that year. In the fall of the following year, the Clerk's Office will send you a letter asking if you want to renew your calendar year Absentee Ballot application for the next year. If you want to continue, you will need to fill out another form. That process will continue until you no longer wish to receive Absentee Ballots.
If you want an absentee ballot for just one election, you can follow the same process, just fill in the date of that election in section 5 and return to the Clerks office, or you can come in and fill it out in person during regular business hours.
All requests for absentee ballots must be accompanied by a copy of a valid Wisconsin Drivers license or Wisconsin issued ID.
